You Don’t Have To

You Don’t Have To

You don’t have to love me
just because we
sing together, no really

I’ve seen you, and
I’m a chorus for you
my cutie, and

I’ve seen you, and
and you rock me, so

tell me you do
sing with me, because

I’ve seen you, and
and you rock me, yes

kiss me baby, because

never have I told anyone
everything you’d want to know, but
I will, and

You don’t have to love me
just because we
sing together, no

I’ve seen you, and
and you rock me, and

tell me that
I’m in your chorus

    1. Thanks. I have to somehow fix this. I think I made a mistake and accidentally took a phrase from an old song. Not sure, but if I can find it I can see if there’s too much similarity and change a few words but keep the rhythm. I guess that’s the danger of writing down whatever comes to mind instead of planning a poem like I used to do. Well, the planning method took a long time to do. This free flow method is easier but maybe too dangerous — I think “You don’t have to” is a common phrase and probably a problem.

    2. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
But phooey gosh. I think I might have to delete this one or make radical changes. I just found the song with the phrase and it might be too similar. I should stop going with a phantom song and plan a little better. Oh well. The song that must have been playing along in the back of my mind was “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” song, sung by Dusty Springfield.
