Halloween Haunts (Draft 2)

Don’t Die On Halloween

Wishing you Happy Halloween though
I am afraid to lose you to the Angel of Death.

I hope all the spirits are benign or
at least gentle in their games. The night
can be a grand costume for the stars
that twinkle with love and some spirits
in the dark are angels so bright to protect
beyond the flashlights we brought to look for monsters.

But this day
I don’t want you to die
even if your ghost would not scare me.

Oh God, let you stay in the flesh
because you have never made me
afraid to love you,
to touch you, and the moon
was never scary at all. Oh no

didn’t we laugh at it
and howl with such joy

that we could be feral
running everywhere that
the moon shines forever.

Fickleness

Fickle

Sometimes I am grand fickleness, because I am not real, although I have a sense that
I’m entertaining and there are things to be learned from the clown.

I’ve grown tired of the Sun, because I don’t want to rise or fall, no not at all;
I just want to be

and if ever I would be loved
I’d feel steady and I’d feel like I could close my eyes
and still feel flashes of love, and like flutters of the butterfly

you’d give me an embrace that would save me
like I could be love in the world with you
not staggering when I am crying, but just
dancing in a conversation that tells all

Sunrise Symphony (Draft 1)

Sunrise Symphony (Draft 1)

He says:
If you knew what the sunrise
really meant to me, when we

looked in the colors of us, and
when I felt like I could sing into the
rose of the sunrise, and knew
your thorns were not for me, then,

I know you wanted to be bold
and seize me in your arms

because I know you know
I’m kind and wouldn’t crush you
in my embrace

and neither will you prick me
because you are not the rose bush
but the flower who in many colors
loves me when you

arise in a divinity
we can share
in our garden.

She says:
Though I am of the Rose complete,
my thorns are for protection
from those who’d harm me

But this Rose
has sweet dreams of you

and if you will come in love
I will burst my blossoms, and

rain my petals of love on you, if
you will not be a bee who stings
but the sunrise for a couple symphony, and

the Sun bursts with rays like
the strings of a violin:
love in a couple duet
with the perfume of the rose
and the glow of the sunrise.

She Could Be Queen (Draft 1)

She Could Be Queen (Draft 1)

They’ve made me President of a small island
a dot in the Pacific Ocean, almost a rock

but we rock and roll, and I hoped
for the blue calm and the love rock

but she came to me and said,
“Mr. President I have worries. ”

So I took her into the Palace
and I loved her like a daughter

and she was so safe with me that
she has grown proud and magnificent
and unlike me she is not arrogant at all
and I like that so much, and

if she could be Queen I think
everyone would love her like I do.

A Day (Draft 2)

The Big Bang (A Day) [Draft 2]

If there’d be a day when
I speak my imagination,
ramble on just because

there might be a gem
in something I say; I’d say
hooray, but

no I can’t get to the point.
There’s something sharp
about wisdom, and I
have a piece of the puzzle

but my chatter disguises it
because I am the least of you

and I have the nub of a love
like when I slice strawberries,
save the sweet part for you
and I eat the funny part
near the green because
I can snatch the green goddess
and when I pinch it off
it doesn’t seem to mind at all.

I love it when
there is a force in the world
that doesn’t mind me too much.

Sometimes I don’t mind the bitter
because there is so much sweetness
and if I can reach the oasis,
so lustfully will I drink, and if
you are there I will
laugh so long that joy
will be an endless bubble,
and if anyone should prick it
I will kiss them like the universe.

If you could love me
I’d share you with everyone
because you are beautiful, and
I love you like a big bang.

If there’d be a day,
I could imagine peace

could imagine us,
a Goddess, and Love, or

as they say,
whatever.
Ha!
