Ugly Flowers

New York can be a grimy city:
invisible beggars of minor importance
gathered up in dust bins
during conventions

Although, if one would know
there are cherry blossoms in Central Park

There are even,
if you know where to go,
tributes to rock stars,
strawberry fields forever

I like strawberries, and
cherries, but

I always seem to miss
the falling of
the blossoms of compassion

No one seems to matter
(Me)

No one seems to gather
my cherries, and
I have always wished
to be sweet
